The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series is the only stop in the United States on the World Cup calendar this year. It will showcase the best cross country mountain bike riders in the world (men and women,) including many Olympic competitors, racing on tight, dynamic new trails in Short Track (XCC), Olympic (XCO), and Marathon (XCM) disciplines, that roll through many laps in and out of the stadium in front of screaming fans and television cameras.
The course layout, team paddock, and world partner areas provide a front row seat where spectators can see behind-the-scenes, watch each race close-up, and connect directly with the athletes before and after each race.
Additionally, you’ll find mountain bike trails, road riding, hiking, and the Adirondack-themed race festival with live music that spans from the competition venue at Mt Van Hoevenberg to the Olympic village of Lake Placid.

Volunteers
We also welcome anyone interested in supporting the event through a volunteer role. Volunteer roles include: Aid Station Volunteer, Antidoping Chaperone, Race Marshals, Hospitality, Timing Volunteers, Bike Corral, Credential Checkers, and Stewards.
UCI Mountain Bike World Series volunteers will receive several benefits including:
- Same day event credential for a single four-hour shift OR full event credentials for two or more four-hour shifts.
- All volunteers will also receive a trucker hat.
- Olympic Authority vouchers that can be used as lift tickets at our ski venues, or for access to the Cliffside Coaster, Sky Flyer Zipline, or other Olympic Authority attractions. Volunteers who do not submit an i9 form are not eligible to receive vouchers.)

Race in the Open Marathon
The WHOOP UCI Mountain Biking World Series weekend includes the Lake Placid Open Marathon on Saturday, September 28. The marathon features a 50 km (31 mi) amateur race on the same course that the professionals will tackle (over 100 km, or about 62 mi) the next day.
The Open Marathon will cover two laps of a 25 km (about 15 mi) course that winds through the iconic Olympic cross country ski trails featuring staggering elevation changes and technical obstacles, testing strength, stamina, agility, and mental focus.
The course layout provides spectators with a front row seat where they can see the race unfold before their eyes and where riders can hear the cheers and roars of the crowd, creating an electric atmosphere.
